{"id":206,"date":"2020-01-08T16:32:46","date_gmt":"2020-01-08T21:32:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/exhibitions.lib.udel.edu\/1968\/?page_id=206"},"modified":"2020-01-27T14:34:45","modified_gmt":"2020-01-27T19:34:45","slug":"sds-and-the-hederodoxical-voice","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/exhibitions.lib.udel.edu\/1968\/home\/heterodoxical-times-in-delaware\/on-campus-demanding-students\/sds-and-the-hederodoxical-voice\/","title":{"rendered":"SDS and The Hederodoxical Voice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>[UD_EXHIBITION_ITEM]<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SDS students partnered with community members to establish&nbsp;<em>The Heterodoxical Voice<\/em>&nbsp;(<em>THV<\/em>), a newspaper to \u201cfill the political, social and cultural information gap\u201d with a \u201cnew left perspective.\u201d Copies of&nbsp;<em>THV<\/em>&nbsp;survive in the alternative press collection of Chris Oakley, a reporter and contributor to many small Delaware publications of the late Sixties and 1970s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Champions of activism,&nbsp;<em>THV<\/em>&nbsp;editors noted that \u201cfailure will be measured by \u2026 complacency.\u201d &nbsp;Prof. Yvonne Mahru (Languages and Literature) was quoted in&nbsp;<em>The Blue Hen<\/em>, \u201cI am impressed by the younger generation\u2019s awareness of social, moral and political problems.
