Created by undergraduate students in the course <em>Introduction to Jewish History and Culture<\/em>, taught by Dr. Christin Z\u00fchlke, the inaugural Chaiken Postdoctoral Researcher in Jewish Studies, this exhibit traces the many geographies of Jewish experience, highlighting the diverse places where Jewish communities have lived, adapted and created culture across time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spanning from the Hellenistic period to war-torn Europe to the New World and Israel, the exhibit follows the movement of Jewish people, traditions, and ideas across regions. Visitors will encounter how local environments shaped language, including Hebrew and Yiddish, as well as religious practices such as marriage and prayer, and cultural expression through literature and art. Together, these elements reveal a rich tapestry of distinct yet interconnected Jewish cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drawing on objects from the UD Library, Museums and Press\u2019 Special Collections and Museums, students explore how Jewish life has been rooted in specific places while also continuously shaped by the diaspora, migration, and exchange.
