Wieners cranked out his Wentley poems\n<\/em>during the week of June 15 &#8211; 23, 1958, while\nstaying in David Haselwood\u2019s room at the landmark hotel on Polk Street, where Beat\nartist Robert LaVigne also lived. Haselwood designed the book, but East Wind\nprinted the book with some expurgations. Thereafter, Haselwood handset his own\nletterpress books at Auerhahn, which became known for its fine typographic design\nand use of fine paper and other details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The\n1958 first edition was followed by a second issue <\/em>in 1959 with minor corrections, followed by the\nsecond edition, <em>The Hotel Wentley Poems: Original\nVersions<\/em> (1965), which included major revisions by Wieners to\nthe poems and restoration of the expurgated language.
