The setting copy\nReed returned in 1971 was accompanied by a special \u201cstyle sheet\u201d prepared for\nthe printers, correspondence with correction notes, and explanations from Reed\nto his editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>All items from the Ishmael Reed papers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>Mumbo Jumbo<\/em>. Early <strong>typescript<\/strong> and <strong>carbon typescript<\/strong> drafts, with the author\u2019s autograph corrections, undated<ol><li>Heavily-corrected typescript sent to the printer as the <strong>setting copy<\/strong> [1971]<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>\u201cDear Compositors,\u201d Ishmael Reed letters to the compositors and \u201cJoan,\u201d September 24 and December 26, 1971<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><em>Mumbo Jumbo<\/em>. This <strong>paste-up<\/strong> of text and illustrations on <strong>bluelines<\/strong> was produced to give the author and publisher a sense of the <strong>layout<\/strong> for the book. This stage was particularly important for <em>Mumbo Jumbo<\/em> since Reed has incorporated unique spelling and typography <\/li><li><em>Mumbo Jumbo<\/em>. This <strong>proof<\/strong> is stamped \u201c<strong>Final Galley<\/strong>\u201d and contains numerous autograph corrections, emendations and copy edits in several different hands<\/li><li><em>Mumbo Jumbo<\/em>. <strong>First edition<\/strong>.
