Zephyrus Image Press, of San Francisco and\nHealdsburg, California, was the subversive, free-spirited 1970s-era press of\nHolbrook Teter (d. 1999) and Michael Myers. In a 1974 collaboration with Bob\nCallahan of Turtle Island Foundation, Teter and Myers chose the comic book\nformat for mass distribution of poet Ed Dorn\u2019s Recollections of Gran Apacher\u00eda<\/em>, also published in a traditional hardback\nby Turtle Island. The underground comic scene was flourishing in San Francisco\nat the time with ZAP Comix (Robert Crumb, Rick Griffin, Victor Moscoso and\nothers) and the Zephyrus Recollections<\/em>,\npriced at \u201c20 dimes,\u201d sold well. The planning and layout of the text, author\u2019s\ncorrections, and galleys are shown on the top shelf. Stages of publishing Michael\nMyers\u2019 artwork and photographs of Holbrook Teeter and Michael Meyers are shown\non the bottom shelf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
