San Francisco: Arion Press, 2000.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This fine press, limited edition of Toomer\u2019s classic work of literature was published by Arion Press, one of the most respected fine presses. The woodcut illustrations were done by famed African-American sculptor Martin Puryear. New York: The Limited Editions Club, 2007.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This fine press edition of King\u2019s famous letter includes beautiful prints by renowned artist Faith Ringgold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-eac1805e0a2ff369fab22aad7ba80447\">Sandra McPherson, 1943<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Beauty in Use.&nbsp;<\/em>Newark, Vt.: Janus Press, 1997.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This artist\u2019s book is a set of poems inspired by the poet\u2019s collection of African American quilts. Illustrator Claire Van Vliet used interlockng pieces of paper to form the beautiful quilt squares that accompany the poems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d1faed3aa67f8e695d4dd568218e47a1\">Lucille Clifton, 1936-2010<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Quilting: Poems, 1987-1990<\/em>. Brockport, N.Y.: BOA Editions, 1991. First edition.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This collection by the late poet is divided into sections that are named for traditional quilt designs: log cabin, catalpa flower, eight-pointed star, tree of life, and prayer. It was selected to accompany the quilt-inspired artists&#8217; book&nbsp;<em>Beauty in Use<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1d5f628c9ea838f853877ac46d726257\">Tia Blassingame, 1971<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Negroes: a Handbook<\/em>. Providence, R.I.: Primrose Press, 2015.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Poet and book artist Tia Blassingame drew inspiration for the design of this book from sea glass and shells she collected on Martha\u2019s Vineyard and along the Rhode Island coast.
