(opens in a new tab)\">Take me to the\u00a0archived exhibition.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jean\u2013Marie Gustave Le Cl\u00e9zio was born in 1940 in Nice, France. He is author of about thirty novels and collections of short stories and has taught at universities around the world. His breakthrough as a novelist came with D\u00e9sert (1980), for which he received a prestigious prize from the French Academy. This work contains magnificent images of the North African desert and its tribal Muslim culture, contrasted with a depiction of modern industrialized Europe as seen through the eyes of illegal immigrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>J.M.G. Le Cl\u00e9zio won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2008. In its citation, the Swedish Academy praised Mr. Le Cl\u00e9zio as \u201can author of new departures, poetic adventure and sensual ecstasy\u201d as well as \u201cthe explorer of a humanity beyond and below the reigning civilization\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This single case exhibition was on display in the Information Room on the first floor of Morris Library from April 2\u2013May 14, 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tags:&nbsp;<\/strong>Le Cl\u00e9zio, J.-M.
