Brandeis is where she met her husband, Jess Lynn, who also received an MFA in dramatic writing in 1987.\u00a0 Lynn was the director of Rebeck\u2019s <em>Sunday on the Rocks<\/em> when it debuted at the Brandeis Playwrights Festival in 1987.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;In her author\u2019s notes for the program, Rebeck said that <em>Sunday on the Rocks<\/em> was written to continue the conversation of three women characters who appeared in an earlier one-act of hers, <em>Breakfast on the Back Porch<\/em> (1986), originally staged by Playwrights\u2019 Platform in Boston.&nbsp; She admitted liking the women and liking conversation, so she developed <em>Sunday on the Rocks<\/em>, which was her first produced full-length play.&nbsp; Rebeck\u2019s mother described <em>Sunday on the Rocks <\/em>as a play \u201cabout people struggling to live in community.\u201d&nbsp; Rebeck also wrote the screenplay for <em>Sunday on the Rocks<\/em> for an independent film directed by Joe Morton (2 Lizzies Productions, 2004).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[UD_EXHIBITION_ITEM] Theresa Rebeck received her second masters, an MFA in dramatic writing, from Brandeis University in 1986.
