{"id":68,"date":"2020-01-09T12:59:56","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T17:59:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/exhibitions.lib.udel.edu\/saving-white-clay-creek\/?page_id=68"},"modified":"2020-01-17T11:30:09","modified_gmt":"2020-01-17T16:30:09","slug":"1-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/exhibitions.lib.udel.edu\/saving-white-clay-creek\/home\/1-2\/","title":{"rendered":"1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dorothy Miller was born in 1931 and obtained a degree in chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University.&nbsp; She worked as a chemical analyst for DuPont and settled with her husband, Robert, in Newark, where they built a home and raised their family.&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Miller took a field ornithology class at the University of Delaware in the mid-1960s and became an avid birder.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong>She was president of the Newark Bird Club, a group with growing interest in land preservation as new housing developments sprang up in the 1960s and there was increased talk of a dam project to create a reservoir in the White Clay Creek Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>[UD_EXHIBITION_ITEM]<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Items on display in the Library exhibit:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.
