Exploring the Library and Museums

In these artworks, Taina Schreiber and Catherine represent the physical and digital resources available through the Library and Museums. Schreiber writes, "I took a picture of the UD Library website on my desk and added shelves of books as a representation of the easy access that the library provides...to countless resources."

Library Hours

To search for books
To be in a quiet area
Having alone time
And feeling free
Knowledge being retained
Schoolwork being completed
Taking it one day at a time

On the left, Cameron Sawyer's image of books on motherhood reflects his library search process. He writes, "While looking for a book on the challenges of motherhood, I noticed that the row the book was in was filled with books explaining motherhood...When I took a step back and realized how many books there were on this topic, I was overwhelmed by how much knowledge was on that shelf." On the right, Madison's poem, "Library Hours" honors the experience of finding a comfortable spot in the library to research and study.

In this artwork, Lena Shiley shares her excitement about the historical books and manuscripts available in Special Collections. She writes that when she visited Special Collections, "I found a space that I pretty quickly knew I’d want to come back to." In her image, she explains, "I wanted to portray my mind expanding on this exhibit through the picture of the brain, the emotion I felt in finding a really cool part of this campus through the picture of the wave, and the love I feel for books and how this enhanced it through the central picture of books."
