The A.M.E. Church Review was established in 1841 by Rev. George Hogarth and had a revival in 1884. The A.M.E. Church Review was published quarterly. The Review is the journal of the African Methodist Episcopal Church publishing articles on world events, religion, politics, and history. The African Methodist Episcopal Church was founded by Richard Allen in 1816.
The January 1914 issue was edited by Reverdy C. Ransom D.D. and features a Symposium on Fifty Years of Freedom. The publication has editorials and illustrations as well as a section titled, “Within the Sphere of Letters.” Some of the writers of this issue include Thomas Jesse Jones, Ph.D., James B. Clarke, and Niles Christensen.
