Constituents from around the United States wrote to Senator Williams as the events from the Selma to Montgomery marches unfolded and President Johnson announced the Voting Rights bill. Many concerned constituents wrote to Williams and urged him to take action for the violent actions occurring in Alabama. Many constituents also wrote to Williams swaying him to vote for or against the Voting Rights Act.
