William De Witt (W. D.) Snodgrass (1926-2009), poet
Mutually inspiring each other’s work, DeLoss McGraw and W. D. Snodgrass collaborated on The Death of Cock Robin, an illustrated poem cycle published by the University of Delaware Press in 1989. The center painting illustrates a poem by the same title in Cock Robin. The painting on the far left appeared on the cover of Snodgrass’s Selected Translations (1998). McGraw created the collages shown to the right using snips from Snodgrass letters and photographs of the two friends.
