Mary Warner and others formed the Black Student Union, submitting demands for Black professors and administrators, Black courses, a Black member of the Board of Trustees, a Black cultural center, recruitment of Black students -- “not just Black athletes,” financial aid for economically disadvantaged Black students, and free UD courses for the poor Black and White communities in Wilmington.
