Delaware constituents wrote to their congressmen, admitting that Dr. King’s tragic death spurred awareness of the need for legislation and the “long overdue equalization of rights for the Negroes.” They also shared frustration with the lengthy occupation, curfews, and other restrictions that Gov. Terry refused to lift, in spite of advice to the contrary from Mayor Babiarz and the Guard command.
