To further express support for freedom of speech and of the press, and to provide assistance to Iranians trying to bypass government Internet censorship, Kaufman coauthored and cosponsored the Victims of Iranian Censorship (VOICE) Act. In addition to supporting freedom of expression in Iran, VOICE also authorized funding for the Broadcasting Board of Governors to expand programming on Radio Free Europe’s Persian broadcast, Radio Farda, and Voice of America’s Persian News Network.
