E2 for Innovation Act

S. 3043, the Engineering Education for Innovation Act, or the E2 for Innovation Act, was a bipartisan legislative effort introduced by Senator Kaufman with Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), and Olympia Snowe (R-ME) in 2010.  The E2 for Innovation Act authorized the Secretary of Education to create competitive grant programs for educational agencies to integrate engineering education into K-12 curricula and instruction. The act was endorsed by several organizations including the National Society of Professional Engineers, Intel, IBM, and Lockheed Martin.
