ASME

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional organization established in 1880 that originally provided a setting for engineers to discuss the concerns brought by the rise of industrialism during the 19th century. Today, ASME provides education and collaboration opportunities for over 127,000 worldwide members in the engineering and technical communities. ASME also serves as the primary organization that develops and maintains codes and standards for the engineering profession.

In 2009, Kaufman recognized ASME in a Senate resolution for the organization’s achievements in maintaining 125 years of professional codes and standards development.
