For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) State Robotics is a non-profit public charity designed to create accessible and innovative programs to motivate young people to pursue career opportunities in STEM. Senator Kaufman met with students from FIRST State Robotics who spent the previous school year designing and building a robot (Cozmoe) that could play ball with other robots. Kaufman was so impressed by the work accomplished by these students that he honored them on the Senate floor.
